SAM Interface with SODA
SAM transmits a Follett ACCESS order file every hour to SODA for fulfillment, and store team members fulfill the Follett ACCESS order following the standard order fulfillment process.
SAM creates a student record by matching the student information from the institution’s SIS with the CourseTracks course information. If there are rental items, SAM either locates an existing student patron record in RIM (Rental Inventory Management system), or creates a new record. SAM does not create a rental patron ID for students if their order does not contain rental items.
SODA flags every order as OK To Substitute new books for used. SODA charges the CARP charge to the major account for all line items in the order. Rentals for customers in the Follett ACCESS program are backed by institution collateral; personal patron information is not required.
To process a substitution in SODA:
- Click in the New/Used field on the SODA order fulfillment screen.
- Change the U to N or vice versa.
- Click Save Changes.
Follett ACCESS Order Numbers
