Post Void a Transaction
Use the Post Void a Transaction steps to cancel a transaction after it has been completed. The tender accepted on the transaction is reversed. The original transaction is updated and marked as voided. Once a transaction is voided, it is no longer available for retrieval.
The Post Void is enabled and available for all roles. A manager override is required based on security role.
Transactions can only be post voided on the current business day. You can only post void transactions on the same till that you are on and before the till is closed.
If a customer attempts to return merchandise on the same day it was purchased, cashier must complete a refund transaction to ensure proper record keeping exists for both the store and the customer.
Complete the post void immediately following the sales transaction. Do not give the original post void receipt to the customer or discard it.
Use Transaction History to select the transaction from the list to post void. If the transaction cannot be post voided, it does not display in the list.

Important:
The following transaction types cannot be post voided:
- Returns
Exchange transactions can be post voided if the customer exchanges the item with the exact amount of refund amount and purchases an item more than the refund amount. If the customer exchanges an item for an item less than the refund amount, the transaction cannot be post voided. - Rental sales, rental actions, or rental price match sales
- Campus card or debit card tendered transactions
- A/R account payment transactions (both major and customer account payments)
- Apple Care Warranty sale
However, Apple Care Warranty Activation Failure sales transactions can be voided. - Successful gift card issues and reloads
However, gift card issue or reload failures can be post voided. - Till pickup and till loan
- No sale transactions
If the transaction has not been completed tendered, use the Cancel Transaction steps. You can also Suspend the transaction before completely tendering the sale to be able to retrieve and complete the transaction at a later time before end of day processing is complete.
Post Void a Transaction
Note: An error message displays if you attempt to post void an item or tender that is not allowed.
- Select the Transaction button.
- Select the Post Void button.
The Void Transaction screen displays. - Select Trans.History.
A list of transactions for the current business day and till display. - Select the transaction to post void.
- Select Enter.
The Void Confirm screen displays. - Select the reason from the Reason Code drop-down.
- Select Enter/Next to complete the transaction.
