Do all entry/exit points have satisfactory controls to prevent bulk merchandise theft in shipping and receiving? is the store compliant with opening and closing procedures? Is the store free of any evidence of unauthorized entry into the store?
| The backroom area of the store can be a source of high-volume loss when not properly attended. This area should remain secured when there is not an active delivery shipment of merchandise. Door should remain closed and locked during non-business hours.

Stockroom doors must be closed and locked with not in use. "Employee Only/Restricted Area" signs must be in place on stockroom, receiving areas, and office areas. Is the store compliant with the standards? Are all emergency exit doors closed and locked with audible panic hardware (test device)?
| The front door is the designated entry/exit for team members. After store closing - team members should only exit after receiving approval from management. Team members should not use the shipping/receiving door for other activities, such as breaks, pass-through traffic, etc.

Can store management and team members accurately articulate the company shoplifting and no chase policy, and are they compliant?
| Do all team members understand the policy as it relates to the handling of a potential shoplifter? And do they follow the policy? Team members should not attempt to stop and accuse a customer of shoplifting. Instead, if someone is suspected of shoplifting - team members should provide additional customer service to the individual. Under no circumstance should a team member follow a customer out of the store or chase them from the store.

Does a manager/keyholder supervise trash removal, and are clear garbage bags used/cardboard boxes broken down?

Are rooms or areas, such as detached stockroom or high price merchandise cages, where merchandise is store, either locked or controlled in some manner?

Does a manager/keyholder conduct bag checks when team members exit the store?
| Is the store adhering to the bag check policy? Inspections of all team member bags, backpacks, or containers should be completed before the team member leaves the premises.

Is the closed circuit television (CCTV) functioning properly, and does the store manager have knowledge on system use and how to copy video? If not, has a service request been initiated? N/A for stores without a CCTV system.
| Store management should know how to use the CCTV – search activity and the process for saving and recording. Is the system malfunctioning in any way, and is it scheduled for repairs?
