Automated Buyback Check Request Overview
Automated Buyback Check Request is an application where you process a check to mail to a customer who sent books to the store for the store to buy back. This is also referred to as customer-not-present or payee-not-present buyback. Often these customers are mail-order customers or distance learning students.

- When the store receives the books, a "customer not present" buyback transaction is completed in CourseTracks. The store manager or an associate with a Store Admin level sign on completes the transaction in CourseTracks. A buyback receipt is created without a barcode and cannot be redeemed at the cash register.
- The day after the buyback transaction, CourseTracks makes a file available to eStore Portal which lists all the "payee not present" buyback transactions from the previous day.
- eStore Portal creates a check request for each buyback transaction in the CourseTracks file.
- The day after the transaction is completed in CourseTracks, the transactions can be processed by the store in eStore Portal by adding the customer's address to the check request. View Process a Buyback Check Request.
- If the person who processed the check request is not a store manager, the store manager approves each processed check request. View Approve a Buyback Check Request.
- At varying dollar limits, additional managers' approvals are required.
- When all approvals are complete, the check request information is sent to Lawson.
- At the end of each day, Lawson creates and prints a check for all approved requests.
- The following day, the checks are put into envelopes and mailed from Accounts Payable.
- After the check is created, check detail information is listed for each Processed request on the Automated Check Requests Summary page in eStore Portal. View a Check Request.

The following reports are available:
- Store Activity Report—This report lists all transaction check requests by customer name for the selected range of dates.
- Payee Discrepancy Report—This report lists any check that was created for a payee name that is different from the customer name on the original transaction.
- Store Velocity Report—This report lists all check request activity for a customer. The report also includes transaction level detail.
